Elegant File Explorer runs entirely on your computer. It creates no account, requires no login and sends none of your personal data or file contents to any server. There is no cloud, advertising or trackers.

This Policy explains how the app, this website and email contact handle (or do not handle) your data.
Elegant File Explorer is a file manager for Windows 10 and 11 that runs entirely on your device. By default and by design:
When the app reads the contents or metadata of a file — to generate previews, search, read photo EXIF data, compute SHA-256 hashes, run OCR or execute an automation — that processing happens only on your device, and nothing is sent off it.
Your settings and usage data are stored locally, usually under %AppData%\ElegantFileExplorer, and never leave your computer. This includes:
You can edit or delete this data at any time inside the app, or by removing the folder above. The portable automation backup (.efeauto file) is only created when you export it, and is saved wherever you choose.
When the app is acquired through the Microsoft Store, the purchase, any refund and store installation/telemetry data are processed by Microsoft, under its own policies. We do not receive or store your payment details (such as card numbers). See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
This website is a static presentation page hosted by a third-party hosting provider. It uses Google Analytics to measure audience in aggregate (which pages are visited and where visits come from), which may involve Google cookies and identifiers — see Google's privacy policy for details. We do not use this data to identify you, we do not sell data, and there are no other third-party pixels. Your browser also stores your language preference (in localStorage), which stays on your device. The app itself still has no telemetry whatsoever — this section is about the website only. When you arrive, a discreet notice lets you accept measurement or stick to the essentials — and you can change your choice at any time.
As with any website, the hosting provider may record technical access data (such as IP address, date/time and browser type) in server logs, for security and operation. This is governed by our hosting provider's privacy policy. External links (such as the Microsoft Store) have their own policies.
If you write to us, we receive your email address and the content of your message — used only to reply and provide support. Messages are handled by our email provider and kept only for as long as needed. We do not use your email for marketing without your request.
The app and the website are not directed at children and do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Because the app does not collect your personal data, you already have full control in practice: everything is on your device and can be deleted by you. Regarding data processed by the website host or by email, and under laws such as the GDPR (EU) and the LGPD (Brazil), you may request access, correction or deletion. To do so, write to contact@elegantfe.com.
Your usage data stays under your control, protected by your own Windows security. Email messages are kept for as long as needed to provide support. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for commercial purposes.
We may update this Policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the current version. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
